Corn futures closed higher on the day and were up 55 cents for the week. More crop progress data will be available Monday afternoon. The dollar stalled out to close lower on the day after several days in a row of closing higher. The weekly CFTC report showed Managed Money had decreased their net corn long by 34,656 contracts and Index Funds decreased their net longs by 7,645 contracts from the previous week. The CME received CFTC approval to offer expanded electronic trading hours in its CBOT grain and oilseed futures and options beginning Sunday, May 20 for Monday, May 21 trade date. Hours will expand from the current 17 hours per day to 21 hours per day on CME Globex from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. CT Sunday to Friday. Jul 12 Corn closed at $6.35 1/2, up 10 1/2 cents,
